Resources: Visual ResourcesUCLA Department of Art History Visual Resources Collection 247 Dodd Hall The Visual Resources Collection functions to serve the teaching and research needs of Art History faculty and graduate students and to aid, whenever possible, faculty from other departments at UCLA. It is staffed by two full-time employees assisted by several undergraduate and graduate student employees. David Ziegler (825-0216) is the Curator and is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, classification, cataloging and circulation of the collection. Susan Rosenfeld (825-3725) is the Assistant Curator and assists with many of the same things. The collection consists of a vast database of images in the major areas of European, American, Asian, African, Oceanic, Native North American and Pre-Columbian Art. New faculty and graduate students often create a need for new images in their field of specialty. To meet this need, we produce 50-80% of our own images from books or original materials and the remaining percentage we either purchase from commercial sources or duplicate from faculty or graduate student originals. With the advent of digital technologies, the Visual Resource Collection has expanded its responsibilities to include providing digital imaging and related services to the department.
